Your GigsDex profile is the only thing a potential client sees before they decide whether to pick up the phone and call you. Two electricians with identical experience and identical pricing can get very different amounts of work simply based on how complete and how convincing their profiles look. Here's what actually moves the needle, based on what clients consistently respond to.
Your GigsDex dashboard shows a profile-completion percentage built from ten equally-weighted items: a headline, your bio, a profile photo, your primary trade category, your listed skills, your years of experience, at least one public contact method, at least one portfolio photo, and your state and pincode. Profiles need to clear a minimum completeness threshold before they're even eligible to appear in search results — so this genuinely isn't cosmetic, it's the baseline requirement for being found at all.
"Certified Electrician, 8 yrs experience, residential rewiring & panel upgrades" tells a client more in five seconds than a generic "Electrical Services" title ever will. Specificity does two things: it helps the right clients recognise you as the right fit immediately, and it filters out enquiries for work you don't actually want to do. If you specialise — say, in AC installation rather than general electrical repair — say so directly in the headline rather than burying it in the bio.
Your portfolio is the closest thing a client has to seeing your work in person before they commit to a call. A handful of clear, well-lit photos of jobs you're genuinely proud of — each with a short one-line description of what the job involved — does far more than a large gallery of low-quality or unrelated images. If you can, include a short before-and-after pair for at least one job; it's one of the most persuasive formats there is for skilled trade work.
If you hold a trade certificate, an ITI diploma, or a specific licence relevant to your category, add it to your profile. GigsDex's admin team can verify individual certificates the same way they verify identity documents, and a verified certificate shows up as its own distinct badge — separate from the general "Verified Professional" badge — which matters most for trades where formal qualification is a genuine differentiator, like CCTV installation or solar panel work.
Set real hours for each day of the week, and update them if they change — for a festival, a family commitment, or a seasonal slowdown. Nothing damages a client's trust faster than a profile that says "available now" when a call goes unanswered for two days. If you're genuinely available for urgent same-day work, GigsDex's "Available Now" toggle exists specifically to signal that — but only turn it on when it's true.
GigsDex's "Nearby" search is entirely location-based — if your state and pincode aren't set correctly, or haven't been updated after a move, clients searching near your actual location simply won't see you, no matter how strong the rest of your profile is. This is the single most common reason a genuinely well-built profile still gets no calls.
A profile with twelve reviews averaging 4.4 stars, including a couple of honest four-star reviews mentioning a minor delay, reads as more credible than a suspiciously perfect five-star average with only three reviews. Clients are increasingly used to spotting the difference. Encourage satisfied clients to leave a review after a job — most people are happy to if you simply ask.
